Some of these are concept drawings dating back to 1987, when Daz had just left Falmouth Marine School and was working out of Saltash with Rob Vincent, who would render 3D images from Daz's sketches. We thought you might like to see them, if only to be reminded that design was possible before the arrival of CAD.

AKA the Dazcat 8m (this was way back before compulsory metrication) - our open deck racing catamaran built in 1989 is shown here with its optional bridgedeck pod. It has won its class in both single and two-handed transatlantic races, as well as many others, and has since proven itself reliable and safe during a long cruise around eastern Europe.

AKA the Variable Geometry 34', designed in 1989, this boat came either with the bridgedeck you see here, or with an open deck. The idea was that you could leave the bridgedeck pod ashore when racing, so streamlining and lightening the boat.

Dazcat 34' CRC

You may notice the similarity between this drawing and the design for Hilary Lister's cat - we always knew the time for this boat would come. This Convertible Racer Cruiser was designed with a balestron rig, and to have a stern that could either be open or covered with a canvas bimini.
